Question6.com: We, The People are NOT HAPPY
25 - Using happiness as a guide
We need a guide. We need a compass always pointing in the right direction. This compass could be Happiness. For 300,000 years, we have been pushed by the wind. An increased consciousness can give us the opportunity to become willing participants in our own evolution. A feeling of happiness could keep us on the right path.
Happiness is a consequence:
Happiness cannot be treated like an object in the material world. It is not a personal belonging. It belongs to the world of the soul and is a consequence of what happens to the soul. It does not have a shape, a weight and a color. It cannot be measured. Happiness is outside the scientific domain.
People in different countries seek happiness in various ways. The first step is to distinguish between true happiness and straightforward enjoyment.
In this video, people fail to distinguish between enjoyment related to the body and true happiness originating from the soul. You may enjoy a glass of wine, but can you rely on wine to have a happy life?
People search outside, with good reasons. Their senses are directed at the outside world. Their eyes can only see what is outside. They don’t have a third eye looking inside. (That would make life more interesting). What their eyes can see in their environment is the material world. That could explain why their first attempt to find happiness is to look for material possessions in their environment. Money comes to mind. It can be misleading. In the absence of true happiness of the soul, we settle for material comfort.
This second video is about people being reunited with animals. We knew that people could relate to cats and dogs. You may be surprised to see the strong attachment that they can have to monkeys, donkeys, tigers, lions, geese, fish, and even alligators. It is more than enjoyment. It is pure joy. This is not something money can buy. It goes directly to the soul. It is universal happiness that even animals can experience.

In real life, enjoyment and true happiness are often combined. True happiness can be so scarce that we don’t expect it. Ask people about the moments of true happiness in their lives, and you will see that they are not very frequent.
There is nothing wrong with enjoying ourselves as long as we don’t become prisoners and forget our primary goal, which is to seek true happiness.
In short:
Happiness is a consequence. The cause can be an improvement of the soul. Happiness does not have a weight and a shape. It cannot be measured. It is outside the scientific domain.
The first step in developing the soul is to free it from its attachment to the material world. This is something we can work on. It takes willpower. It may not be easy but it is within our reach.
The next step would be to elevate the soul by increasing our level of consciousness. This is how we can get over our glass ceiling.
Improvements to the soul will be experienced as a deep sense of happiness. This is what will motivate us to take part in our own evolution.
